The purpose of Cathedral Baptist School is to assist Christian parents in providing a sound education for their children through the integration of faith and learning. CBS is committed to teaching a Biblical view of God and the world through the development of basic spiritual, intellectual, physical and social skills.
Integration of Faith and Learning
We, at Cathedral Baptist School, believe that we have the mission of enabling our students to live wholesome Christian lives in a harsh and demanding world. In cooperation with the parents, we will make the students aware that, while they are created in God’s image, they are also blessed with distinctive personalities. They will also learn that they are endowed with special talents, which they will discover, and finally, that God has a purpose for each of them, and they can achieve that purpose.
Cathedral Baptist School provides an environment that balances a relationship with God through faith in Christ with intellectual and artistic pursuits. Academic excellence, coupled with the development of Christian character, will enable each student to recognize God’s special plan for his or her life and to strive to attain that goal.
We believe that we honor the Lord as we strive for a high level of performance using the gifts He has given. Alongside our goal of developing artistic and athletic skill in our students, is the goal of helping students understand how they can use those gifts for the greater glory of God. We want students to recognize that their abilities are indeed a gift from above as it says in James 1:17, and that those gifts will be best used when they are offered back to the Lord with gratitude.
Athletics at Cathedral play a major role as one area that makes up this school. Athletics not only serves as a forum for our students to compete at high-levels but is used strategically as a teaching tool within the academic make-up of the CBS’s curriculum.
Our heart is that every student at Cathedral Baptist School would be involved in Athletics in some capacity. In Athletics, we strive to develop attitudes of selflessness and humility. It is our goal to encourage, lift each other up, and challenge each student-athlete to pour themselves out on the court or field for each other and for God. Colossians 3:23 states that in “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” It is our prayer that we would strive to glorify the Lord, both on and off the court.
